  • How Social Media Saved My Wedding

    I know that sounds like a ridiculous statement (b/c it partially is), but my reception may not have been the same without it. We had decided that our theme was going to be “Chicago” early this year, and started thinking of ways to make that come alive in the banquet hall. I kept saying I wanted to make models of the buildings, but didn’t know how that was going to happen. After many Google searches I found my solution: postcards with models of Chicago buildings. It was some local printing press that had no contact form on the site, no phone number, no shopping cart, just a form to print out and mail to them. I don’t think I have ever placed an order this way, at least not in the past 10 years. It’s 2011!   (more…)

  • Photo Recovery Software Equals Happiness

    3 weeks ago, Bhumi and I set off for sunny Florida for our honeymoon. Every night of the trip we would come back to the room and download all of the pictures we had taken onto my computer to make space on the memory card for the next day’s adventure. About two weeks after we got home I got a computer virus and it wiped out all of my files. Among those files were our honeymoon pics – all 500 of them. Fortunately I had uploaded a lot of them to Facebook the night after we returned so we had some low quality versions left, but it was a really sad moment when I realized that all those pics had gone away forever… or so I thought.   • Restarting my site today woohoo!!

    I finally found the time today to transfer my domain and re-launch this site. Because there is a chance that the old version was hacked, I’m going to start from scratch. I didn’t have that much content on the old one anyway. Next, I will re-launch RAAHI and re-commit to the business that started over 4 years ago. The nice thing about RAAHI is that I can continue right where I left off. Years of hard work have left a mark, but I can only get out of it what I put in. I stopped putting myself into it this year. Career and Wedding took over. I don’t regret that at all though, everything has turned out better than I could hope for. I love my job, and I shared a dream wedding with friends, family, and my wonderful wife, Bhumi.

    I feel some closure now having returned from our honeymoon just a few days ago. I feel even more grateful for the life I have, and am looking forward to writing all of the “thank you” notes to everyone that was a part of our wedding. It’s a nice excuse just to get back in touch with everyone. Here’s to all the writing that lies ahead woohoo!
